Exempla Health Selects ProVation(R) Order Sets Solution From Wolters Kluwer Health

Posted on: Wednesday, 16 July 2008, 09:01 CDT

Wolters Kluwer Health, a leading global provider of information for healthcare professionals and students, announced today that Exempla Healthcare has purchased ProVation(R) Order Sets, the actionable, evidenced-based order set authoring and management solution that allows hospitals to put evidence-based healthcare into practice by establishing and maintaining standards of care.

The ProVation Order Sets solution meets the growing demand from medical facilities to improve clinical performance and regulatory compliance through established standards of care. ProVation Order Sets helps improve patient care by providing easy access to a comprehensive repository of evidence; reduces costs related to medication errors and increases patient safety through built-in standardization at the point of care; aids implementation of evidence-based practice across medical specialties; and a solid return on investment by simplifying the order set review and approval process.

Formed in 1998, Exempla Healthcare consists of three hospitals and a network of clinics throughout the Denver-metro area. It is a not-for-profit, community-based organization sponsored by Community First Foundation and the Sisters of Charity of Leavenworth Health System (SCLHS).

Exempla Healthcare's clinicians currently use Wolters Kluwer's Clin-eguide(TM) clinical decision support tool, which provides accurate evidence-based information for health care providers in the clinical setting. It integrates trusted content from Wolters Kluwer brands like Ovid, Facts & Comparisons(R), and Lippincott Williams and Wilkins, as well as other premier publishers.

"We strive to build our protocol on accurate, up-to-date medical content and supporting evidence, with the goal of creating high-quality orders that ensure consistency and excellent patient care," said Dr. Joseph B. Heaton, Medical Director, IST, Exempla Healthcare. "We were confident based on our positive experience with Wolters Kluwer's clinical decision support solutions that the ProVation Order Sets solution would meet our needs and deliver premium medical content while streamlining our workflow and simplifying order set management."

"Our mission is to improve patient outcomes, reduce administrative costs and improve clinician workflow by providing the most accurate and up-to-date medical evidence at the point of care," said Arvind Subramanian, President and CEO, Wolters Kluwer Health Clinical Solutions. "We are pleased that Exempla Healthcare has selected ProVation Order Sets and believe they will accomplish all of these objectives through its implementation and use."
