ASSEMBLY Government ministers were yesterday urged to address the growing problem of Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs) among youngsters.

Figures released by the UK Health Protection Agency revealed a 6%rise in diagnoses, with people aged 16-24 accounting for half of all new cases.

Cardiff Central AM Jenny Randerson, spokeswoman for health for the Welsh Liberal Democrats, said action was needed. Ms Randerson said: “We need a revolution when it comes to sexual health in this country and I hope that Wales will lead the way on this. There is an urgent need for more education on sex and relationships.”
