Asherman’s Syndrome

May 10, 2005

Asherman’s syndrome is the presence of adhesions inside the uterus that typically occur as a result of scar formation after uterine surgery. The adhesions may cause infertility.

The syndrome appears most in women who have had a dilatation and curettage for removing retained placenta after childbirth, clearing the uterus after a miscarriage or aborting a pregnancy.
