Hamas movement prime minister, Ismail Haniyah, called Egypt on Thursday to open Rafah crossing to transfer Hamas Parliamentarian Mariam Farahat to an Egyptian hospital to receive medical treatment.

Maryam Farahat yesterday suffered a severe heart attack and was transferred to Al-Shifaa hospital.

Ahmed Bahar, acting speaker of Palestinian Legislative Council, and health minister visited Farahat and called for immediate opening of Rafah Crossing to let her have medical treatment in Egyptian hospitals.

"Now it is time to open Rafah Crossing, it is not logical to leave more than a million and half Palestinians stuck in Gaza for more than 14 months," Haniyah said.

He added "more than 220 Palestinian patients died in Gaza strip because of preventing them from travelling abroad for medical treatment."

The health minister said that Farahat requires immediate surgery on her heart, what we can't make in Gaza for lack of medical equipments and medicines.

Acting speaker of Palestinian legislative council, Ahmad Bahar, said that he is making intensive communications with the Egyptian administration to fasten the opening of Rafah crossing for Farahat and hundreds of other Palestinian patients.
