Fertility Treatment Center:
WHAT:
Today marks the 30th anniversary of the world's first test tube baby. Louise Joy Brown's birth on July 25, 1978, launched the successful introduction of science into the conception process. Today, more than 3 million babies have been born with the help of in vitro fertilization (IVF).
Leading FTC experts are available to speak on the topic of IVF and the progress of infertility treatment since 1978. The IVF process has greatly improved in the last 30 years, including advancements such as frozen embryo transfers and preimplantation genetic diagnosis (PGD), a groundbreaking technique used during IVF to test embryos for a variety of genetic disorders.
FTC was the first center in the Southwestern U.S. to report a successful PGD pregnancy. According to SART, the Society for Assisted Reproductive Technology that tracks national IVF statistics, in 2006, FTC performed 30 percent more IVF procedures than any other Arizona reproductive medical practice.
