Posted on: Tuesday, 29 July 2008, 12:01 CDT
Morgan Joseph & Co. Inc. today announced expanded coverage of the healthcare industry in the life sciences sector, with the addition of a senior investment banker, Michael J. Innes, and a senior equity research analyst, Shiv Kapoor, to cover the field. Both joined the firm from Ferris, Baker Watts, Inc.
Mr. Innes joins the firm's Healthcare Investment Banking Group headed by Marc A. Cabrera, Managing Director, which comprises four senior bankers focused on the healthcare services and life sciences sectors, and includes the recent addition of Ronald J. Zimmerer, Director, formerly of the Healthcare Investment Group at SunTrust Robinson.
Mr. Innes, who was previously at Raymond James and First Union Securities, has served a broad spectrum of healthcare clients, including biotechnology and specialty pharmaceutical companies, specialty distributors, outsourced service providers and healthcare information technology companies.
Mr. Kapoor will provide research coverage of the biotechnology sector. Prior to joining Ferris, Baker Watts, he held senior research analyst positions at Citigroup and Montgomery & Co.
"The healthcare industry, and the life sciences segment particularly, are primarily middle market industries that maintain strong positive fundamentals, and there are a broad range of companies that remain underserved from an investment banking perspective," said John F. Sorte, President and CEO of Morgan Joseph. "Given our track record in the healthcare sector and general expertise in the mid-market, we are excited about expanding coverage to include the life sciences sector. Michael brings a great deal of know-how and relationships to our firm and Shiv's ability to identify sector trends and analyze companies' medical technology will provide important useful research insights for our institutional sales clients."
