Polish Premier Urges Changes to Healthcare Legislation
Text of report in English by Polish national independent news agency PAP
Konstantynow Lodzki, 30 July: Polish hospitals will face “wild privatisation” unless healthcare reform legislation prepared by ruling Civic Platform has been adopted, Poland’s Prime Minister Donald Tusk said.
“This legislation is absolutely necessary for hospitals, patients, doctors and nurses,” Tusk said. “And those who say ‘no’ do so only to annoy the government.”
According to Tusk, the Civic Platform proposals will rescue hospitals, put a stop to wasting money and large scale corruption.
The prime minister described the fact that the president and the opposition said “no” to the health care reform legislation before they even read it as “political cynicism.”
