New Research on Diabetes, Obesity, Heart Disease, Women's HealthIssues to Be Announced May 18 in Washington

American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists 14th Annual Meeting and Clinical Congress.

Meeting Topics Include:

-- As competition in amateur and professional sports becomes more intense, so do the consequences. Sessions will include new information on performance-enhancing drugs and the impact exercise can have on the female reproductive system.

-- Diabetes and its complications are increasing faster in Hispanic and Latino populations than in any other ethnic group. Experts will address new strategies to treat diabetes, Insulin Resistance Syndrome, heart disease and more in Hispanics and Latinos. Special Spanish session on Saturday.

-- As obesity continues to take its toll on Americans' health, endocrinologists, the experts in metabolism and nutrition, are staged at the forefront to fight this epidemic. Doctors will discuss new therapies in obesity management, including diets, drugs, and surgery.

-- Emerging science has revolutionized the way women are treated for various conditions. The conference will include the new information on the diagnosis and treatment of menopause, heart disease, diabetes, pregnancy and other reproductive issues, osteoporosis, and more.

General sessions will be translated from English to Spanish or Italian.
