A NEW initiative aimed at encouraging more people to take small steps towards a healthier lifestyle has been launched in Caerphilly county.

Health Challenge Caerphilly County Borough was launched at Newbridge Leisure Centre to promote steps such as eating more fruit and vegetables, giving up smoking, avoiding accidents and being more active.

Activities such as ultimate frisbee, street dancing, healthy cooking, cycling and walking were all available at the launch, involving Bargoed Get Moving, Aber Valley Walkers and pupils from Newbridge Comprehensive School and White Rose Primary in New Tredegar.

People are being urged to look for activities happening in their local areas over the next 12 months.

Health Challenge Caerphilly CB is a partnership of various organisations and is aimed at promoting healthy living and raise awareness about the importance of health and well-being in the community.
