Cancer-Hit Punter in 100k Win

A CANCER patient kept waiting for treatment used the time to study horse racing form - then scooped a staggering pounds 102,000.

The 50-year-old selected four horses at Goodwood's Friday meeting - staking pounds 210 on a yankee and extra accumulator bet - and they all romped home at combined odds of 1,592-1.

The punter, who has asked not to be named, said: "I usually have a quick glance at the form in the morning and pick out a couple of runners.

"But as the hospital doctors kept me waiting for half an hour I had a chance for some proper study and it paid off."

Jonathan Claire, who took the bet at Ladbrokes in Bexhill, East Sussex, said: "He's a regular who's been through a rough patch so we're delighted his luck's changed."

The winner now plans a much-needed holiday.
