Number of N Lincs Girls Offered Cancer Jab Tripled

A Cancer vaccination scheme will be rolled out to 3,000 North Lincolnshire schoolgirls.

In June, the Government's Department of Health (DoH) announced the vaccine would be given to 1,000 North Lincolnshire girls aged 12 and 13 in September 2008.

And now the scheme has been widened to include nearly 2,000 17 and 18-year-old girls.

School nurses will offer the vaccination to all eligible girls, co-ordinated by North Lincolnshire Primary Care Trust (PCT).

PCT spokesman Phil West said 1,760 females aged 17-18 in North Lincolnshire would be offered the jab this September.

He said: "I can confirm that all 17 to 18-year-old females in North Lincolnshire will be offered the opportunity to be vaccinated."
