Zynx Health Accelerates Standardization of Order Sets at Christiana Care Health System

August 5, 2008

Christiana Care Health System, Delaware’s largest not-for-profit healthcare provider, announced it has met an ambitious goal for building evidence-based order sets with help from Zynx Health, the leader in evidence-based healthcare.

Christiana Care uses ZynxOrder(TM), a knowledge management system, to create, customize, and maintain evidence-based order sets. In an effort to help clients such as Christiana Care expedite the order set build process, Zynx recently launched its ZynxOrder Acceleration Program. The program pairs clinicians from the Zynx Medical Affairs team, who are experts in customizing evidence-based order sets, with Zynx clients to drive rapid reconciliation and integration of existing paper-based order sets. The team from Zynx worked side-by-side with clinicians at Christiana Care to get a number of order sets built by their May 1, 2008, deadline for distribution to the physicians, pharmacy, and lab for review and consensus.

“The process of validating the order sets that Zynx has developed, with appropriate Christiana Care customizations, has provided a unique opportunity for more than 50 physicians to become involved with the CPOE project in a leadership role,” said Terri Steinberg, MD, chief medical information officer at Christiana Care.

“We are pleased to have been able to help Christiana Care meet its order set development goal,” said Kris Berkery, MD, national physician executive at Zynx. “This project gave us the opportunity to work closely with the Christiana Care team to accelerate the build of order sets that will help facilitate evidence-based care for patients in the communities it serves.”
