By Robyn Shelton, The Orlando Sentinel, Fla.
Doctors at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center Orlando have been awarded $2 million from the state for research into head, neck, lung and pancreatic cancers. The Florida Department of Health awarded the funds, including a $950,000 grant to Dr. Patrick Kupelian for a two-year study of smoking-caused lung tumors with the University of Central Florida. Other physicians will be studying the aggressive nature of head and neck tumors, and the growth of pancreatic malignancies.
