Final Baby-Sitter Class of Year Set
NORWAY - There is still time to sign up for the Aug. 13 and 15 Safe Sitter(R) class offered by Stephens Memorial Hospital. The class will run from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Wednesday and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday at the Norway Town Office.
Safe Sitter(R) (www.safe sitter.org) is a medically accurate program that teaches ages 11 to 15 how to be safe, nurturing babysitters. The goal is to reduce the number of avoidable and unintentional deaths among children being cared for by baby- sitters.
Students get hands-on practice in lifesaving techniques so they are prepared to act in a crisis. They learn safety and security precautions, such as what to do if a stranger comes to the door. They learn basic child development as well as the business aspects of babysitting.
This is the final class of the year, future classes will be scheduled for the school breaks of 2009. The fee is $50.
