Havelock residents now have access to a nurse at the Havelock Medical Centre five days a week instead of just two. Pelorus Area Health Trust chairwoman Roz Freeth said the community had been lobbying for its rural status to be reinstated since it was lifted in 2005. While this had not yet happened, extending the nursing service was a big improvement. The extended service is a collaboration between Marlborough primary health organisation Kimi Hauora Wairau, Springlands Health and the Nelson Marlborough District Health Board.
