New Sleep Center Opens Doors at Northwest Hospital
SEATTLE, Aug. 11 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ — Northwest Hospital & Medical Center today announced the opening of the Northwest Hospital Sleep Center, a newly constructed sleep laboratory on its main campus. Under the direction and supervision of medical director Ralph Pascualy, M.D., the Northwest Hospital Sleep Center offers the most progressive diagnostic equipment and treatment available, delivered by nationally recognized sleep medicine specialists. The new, state-of-the-art facility features eight private suites, and offers patients all the comforts of home, along with Northwest Hospital’s signature commitment to quality care and patient safety.
“We believe a sleep center is an extremely important addition to the services we provide at Northwest Hospital,” said Bill Schneider, the hospital’s president and CEO. “Our mission to raise the long-term health of our community includes addressing the high incidence of sleep disorders and associated health risks, such as heart attack and stroke, if these disorders are left untreated.”
Sleep Medicine Associates has opened a full-service sleep medicine clinic adjacent to the Northwest Hospital Sleep Center to provide patients the convenience of consultations and exams in the same location that their sleep studies are performed.
According to the National Sleep Foundation, sleep is essential to helping maintain mood, memory and cognitive performance. Recent studies show a growing link between sleep disorders and a variety of serious health problems, including obesity, diabetes, high blood pressure and depression. It’s estimated that about 70 million people have sleep-related problems, while about 40 million people suffer from actual sleep disorders.
The Northwest Hospital Sleep Center, in conjunction with Sleep Medicine Associates, provides adult and pediatric consultation, diagnosis and treatment for sleep disorders, including:
-- Snoring and sleep apnea -- Insomnia -- Restless leg syndrome -- Narcolepsy -- Sleep-disordered breathing -- Shift work/jet lag -- Fatigue -- Night terrors -- Periodic limb movement disorder
