Cheap Drug Cancer Hope
August 14, 2008
A CHEAP treatment for brittle bones plus chemotherapy could give new hope to breast cancer patients.
The therapy has shown to shrink tumours in mice. Chemo drug doxorubicin primes the tumour then zoledronic acid fights it, scientists at Sheffield and Kuopio University, Finland, found.
And a clinical trial is now taking place and it is hoped the treatment may be soon available to patients.
The Breast Cancer Campaign said: "The results are very encouraging and could change the way breast cancer patients are treated."
