ORRVILLE — Dunlap Community Hospital was named one of 33 critical-access hospitals in Ohio to share in grants totaling $657,763 from federal and state sources.
The state grants came from the Foundation for Healthy Communities of the Ohio Hospital Association, while the federal funds were provided through the Ohio Department of Health and its State Office of Rural Health.
All 33 of the hospitals received grants of $19,232 from the Ohio Small Hospital Improvement Program and the Medicare Rural Hospital Flexibility Program. The funds can be used by the hospitals for quality improvement projects to help reduce medical errors, improve networking, comply with requirements of the federal Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act and to improve emergency medical services.
Andreas Ellis, vice president of marketing at Dunlap, said the grant will be used to purchase software that will enable the hospital to expand its “quality measurements and service to cover all aspects of care in our organization.”
The only other hospital in the area to receive the same grant was Lodi Community Hospital.
