August 17, 2008

LEWISTON – August marks the fourth year in operation for St. Martin’s Bargain Basket, tucked in the basement of St. Martin de Porres Residence for homeless men and women on the corner of College and Bartlett streets.

The shop has household items, linens, bedding, jewelry, antiques, religious articles and furniture.

The staff is made up of volunteers, and the proceeds generated from the sales go to the residence’s mission of sheltering the homeless and helping them return to more productive lives.

The shop is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Those who have items to donate should call 786-4690 during business hours.
