Kiwis’ Generosity Much Appreciated
The Waikato Times lead article (August 8) was a timely reminder that local charities and other good causes often face extra challenges when times are tough and less money is available via charitable trusts.
May I therefore thank everyone who supported my recent hair dye fundraiser in Garden Place in support of the Hamilton hydrotherapy pool appeal.
I am pleased the immediate target was successful. It again demonstrated New Zealanders are very generous when asked to respond to charitable appeals.
My blue hair is fading but still attracts plenty of comment and a few raised eyebrows. That’s great, because my main aim is to raise awareness that this much-needed health facility – to be built at Te Rapa – still needs to raise $600,000 by next February for construction to commence.
Special thanks to trust supporter Lynn Falconer for doing the honours in her bathing suit in Garden Place – a great demonstration of commitment to the cause.
Thousands of local people living with a range of serious ailments and conditions stand to gain significant relief from pain and suffering, and to accelerate muscle development and recovery, through the proven benefits of hydrotherapy.
The facility will be a wonderful addition to our health and wellbeing infrastructure.
