Hospital to Axe Heat Bills

IRELAND'S largest hospital is fighting the rising cost of fuel bills by buying electric blankets to help keep patients warm.

Dublin's St James's Hospital is now looking for tenders to provide them with heated blankets for patients for the next five years.

The tender said: "The device should use a forced warm air method of heating the patient with the air being directed to the patient using a disposable blanket.

The hospital has also asked firms to provide free samples of the blankets to determine which types work best in a trial of the plan.
