Walkers to Face Moor Challenge

August 19, 2008

A cancer charity is putting on its second Dartmoor Challenge in October.

Marie Curie Cancer Care is putting on the walk on Sunday, October 12, to help raise money for its efforts in fighting cancer.

The circular route will begin in the village of Widecombe-in-the- Moor. Walkers will hear the sad tale of Kitty Jay and the mystery mourner who ensures fresh flowers are always placed at her graveside.

Community fundraiser Samantha Surridge said: “The challenge gives you the opportunity to explore areas of Dartmoor which are a bit more off the beaten track and feel a sense of achievement when you complete the challenge, not just for yourself but from supporting Marie Curie Cancer Care.”

Entry fee is pounds10 per person and all participants are asked to raise a minimum of pounds100.
