Two Are Injured in Road Crashes
A GIRL suffered head injuries and a man needed surgery after two separate road crashes on Teesside.
Police appealed today for witnesses to the incidents, which left a 27-year-old man needing surgery to his arm and a 17-year-old girl requiring hospital treatment.
One of the accidents involved two cars in Borough Road, Middlesbrough, at the junction with West Terrace at 6.10pm yesterday, when a Toyota MR2, travelling towards North Ormesby and turning right, collided with a Vauxhall Astra travelling from the A66 slip-road.
Inspector Ian Grunwell, of Cleveland Police, said: “A 27-year- old male, who was a rear seat passenger in the Vauxhall Astra, sustained a serious arminjury and is detained in James Cook University Hospital where he is due to undergo surgery later this morning.”
The other crash happened outside Staples Store, in Marina Way, Hartlepool, at 2.25pm yesterday, when a Ford Ka parked outside the shop reversed at speed and collided with two other stationary vehicles.
The driver, a 17-year-old girl from Hartlepool, needed hospital treatment for a slight head injury.
Anyone who saw the Middlesbrough accident is asked to call PC Andrew Kukielka, at Cannon Park Road Policing Unit, on 01642 301552.
Witnesses to the Hartlepool incident should call PC Paul Bennett on the same number.
