Aegis Therapies Wins Legislative Award From Florida Health Care Association

Aegis Therapies has received the prestigious 2008 Legislative Support Award from the Florida Health Care Association (FHCA). FHCA is a federation of long-term care providers dedicated to providing the highest quality care for elderly, chronically ill, and disabled individuals.
According to the FHCA, Aegis earned the award because of its active role in assisting the Association with advocating on behalf of long-term care during this past year's Florida Legislative Session.
Aegis staff members met with legislators to discuss topics and concerns central to providing quality long term care, and they participated in FHCA's Lobby Wednesdays; a grassroots effort bringing together nursing home owners, administrators and direct-care staff, vendors, friends and family members to educate legislators on the importance of funding and other long term care issues.
"We are thrilled to receive this award," said Violet Parker, P.T., regional sales manager for Aegis Therapies. "Our ongoing efforts to educate Florida's lawmakers, in addition to this statewide recognition, confirm that we are focused on our mission of caring for and advocating for the elderly."
"We are all partners in taking care of Florida's elderly," said Bill Phelan, FHCA president. "Aegis' active role in the 2008 Legislative Session was invaluable to Florida's long-term care community in helping legislators understand the importance of appropriate funding so that Florida's nursing homes can continue to provide the quality care that residents deserve."
