Free Concert is Today in Duck

DARE COUNTY | The town of Duck will hold another concert in its Summer Music Series at 6 p.m. today.

The Fuzz Band of Hampton Roads will bring its blend of hip-hop, soul, funk, rock and jazz. The concert is free and will be in Duck Town Park.

The band also will perform at the second a nnual Duck Jazz Festival on Oct. 12.

Currituck County

High school TO hold 30th reunion

The Currituck County High School Class of 1978 is planning its 30th reunion.

A social will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Oct. 10 at Currituck County Middle School. On Oct. 11, the reunion will be held on the Spirit of Norfolk with a dinner cruise at 7:30 p.m.

Dare County

fish fry supports missionaries

Grace Lutheran Church By-The-Sea will host a fish fry from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday in the church social hall.

The menu includes fried fish fillets, hush puppies, cole slaw, baked beans, iced tea and dessert. The cost is $7 for adults and $3 for children. Eat-in or take-out will be available.

Proceeds will support former pastor the Rev. Jim Bloker and his wife, Maybelle, who are serving as missionaries to the Czech Republic and Eurasia.

Lunch and learn program offered

The University of North Carolina and Dare County Cancer Care Partnership will present a free community workshop at noon Friday on blood clots and clotting disorders. The Lunch and Learn will be held at the Cancer Resource Center in the medical building behind The Outer Banks Hospital.

Gates County

Mobile food pantry held today

The Gates County Mobile Food Pantry will be held today. Registration will be at 5 p.m. with food distribution at 5:30 p.m. at the Gates County Community Center.

Free food will be given to the first 150 families. A Gates County ID must be shown. Participants should bring boxes or containers.

The Food Bank of the Albemarle, the North Gates Charge MFP and churches of Gates County are sponsoring the distribution.
