Stemcell Technologies Introduces AggreWell400 Plates Research Tool

Stemcell Technologies has launched AggreWell400 plates, a tool for researchers using embryonic and induced pluripotent stem cells.
Many protocols for inducing the development embryonic and induced pluripotent stem cells into clinically relevant cell types rely on the formation of embryoid bodies (EBs), which are three-dimensional aggregates of cells. In addition to being labor-intensive, current methods for making EBs are said to result in aggregates that are inconsistent in size and shape, leading to inefficient differentiation.
In contrast, researchers using the AggreWell400 plates are able to control the size of EBs, enabling them to optimize their differentiation protocols. Additionally, the AggreWell400 plates is said to allow stem cell scientists to easily create large quantities of uniformly-sized EBs.
Clive Glover, product manager of pluripotent stem cell biology at Stemcell, said: "The AggreWell400 plate is the latest product in Stemcell Technologies's portfolio that addresses the need for standardized methods and tools for stem cell research."
