Five Fight for Lives After Crash

FIVE people were fighting for their lives last night after their car crashed into a tree.

The 41-year-old driver and his passengers were taken to hospital in a fleet of ambulances after the accident on Wood Lane, Great Altcar, Formby, at 1.55am yesterday.

Emergency services arrived to find one person had been thrown out of a Fiat Punto.

The most seriously injured patient, with leg, pelvic and internal injuries was taken to Aintree Hospital.

The other four, including two aged 17 and 19, who all suffered serious crash injuries, were taken to Southport Hospital.

The road was closed until 6am to allow investigations to take place.
