US Oncology Appoints Stephen Smith Vice President/General Manager Research and Personalized Science Services

HOUSTON, Aug. 25 /PRNewswire/ -- US Oncology, Inc. today announced the appointment of Stephen Smith as Vice President/General Manager Research and Personalized Science Services. Smith will oversee the US Oncology Research Network, which provides research management services to oncology practices and sites throughout the nationwide US Oncology Network.
The research network allows physicians to accelerate the availability and use of scientific, evidence-based medicine and share best practices. It has played a pivotal role in 24 of the last 30 cancer drugs approved by the FDA and more than 32,000 patients have participated in clinical trials.
Smith joins US Oncology from INC Research, Inc. where he was Senior Vice President, Global Oncology. Prior to INC Research, he worked as CFO of Clinical Pharmacology and Labs for Pharmaceutical Product Development, Inc., a multinational healthcare technology and services firm. Smith served as an officer in the United States Army for five years.
Smith earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the United States Military Academy, a Master of Science degree from the University of Northern Colorado and a Master of Business Administration degree from Syracuse University, Whitman School of Management.
