Shawnee County sheriff’s officials Monday identified the fatality victim of a one-car crash that occurred about 8:30 p.m. Sunday just south of Wakarusa.

The victim, Eric S. Kennedy, 24, of Scranton, was driving a white 2003 Chevrolet Malibu west in the 1400 block of S.W. 103rd when the car left the south side of the roadway near a curve, entered a ditch, hit a culvert and flipped onto its top.

Kennedy was pronounced dead at the scene.

The car’s three other occupants were hospitalized for life- threatening injuries, sheriff’s officials said.

Ashley J. Hale, 18, of Scranton, Jerrid W. Johnston, 24, of Topeka, and Bree Crawford, 19, of Topeka, all were taken to area hospitals.

Hale was transported to St. Francis Health Center by American Medical Response ambulance.

Johnston was taken to Stormont-Vail Regional Health Center by LifeStar air ambulance.

Crawford was taken to Stormont-Vail Regional Health Center by ambulance and later was life-flighted to The University of Kansas Hospital in Kansas City, Kan.

Updates on the conditions of Hale, Johnston and Crawford weren’t available Monday night.

Kennedy and Hale weren’t wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident, but Johnston and Crawford were, according to the sheriff’s accident report.
