ANN ARBOR, Mich., Aug. 27 /PRNewswire/ — HealthMedia, Inc., the pioneer in applying advanced technology to emulate a health coaching session via the web — without the coach — for wellness, disease management, behavioral health, medication adherence, and aging well has once again reported a significant increase in second quarter earnings, with profits more than doubling from the same quarter of 2007. Health care license revenues were up more than 60 percent and revenues from strategic distributors were up 94 percent from the same quarter last year. New wins crossed over all customer segments including several large employers and top health plans, pharmaceutical and specialty, the federal government, and a contract in Southeast Asia forging expansion into that market.

The earnings forecast for profit remains strong for the remainder of the year. In addition to new business, long-term contracts with customers and partners continue to show confidence in HealthMedia’s product technology, efficacy, and outcomes that remain unrivaled in the marketplace. As industry need continues to propel the shift toward and demand for more sophisticated and functional web-based health care technology and health solutions, HealthMedia remains poised for more significant growth and successful gains.

“The world is making an inevitable change in the future of health care using technology to deliver services more effectively to larger populations at lower costs across all continuums,” said Ted Dacko, HealthMedia President and CEO. “This is a very exciting time for HealthMedia because we have the technology and outcomes, and can deliver at a fraction of the cost.”

HealthMedia(R) Invests More in Behavioral Health

With behavioral health conditions accounting for nearly eight percent of all health care dollars spent, and more than $100 billion in lost workforce productivity annually, the company continues to invest significant resources into filling this critical industry gap. The recently announced HealthMedia(R) Overcoming(TM) Binge Eating online program is already showing the types of positive outcomes customers have achieved with the HealthMedia(R) Overcoming(TM) Depression and HealthMedia(R) Overcoming(TM) Insomnia, programs. HealthMedia is also the founding sponsor of the Institute for Health and Productivity Management (IHPM) Behavioral Health Workplace Center, and is currently forming a Behavioral Health Advisory Board consisting of industry influencers, combining their knowledge and expertise to address and report on the latest, most up-to-date findings, studies, and breakthroughs in the field.

Focus on End User Experience to Increase Participation

HealthMedia continues its focus on increasing participation by developing a series of promotional materials and strategies that customers and partners can use to initiate engagement, promote participation, and establish brand with end users. “We are able to drive a high level of participation into our programs and other solutions offered by our customers using the same Fusion(TM) technology that is at the core of our online interventions,” said Dacko. “By combining the capabilities and intelligence of our technology with tailored and individually personalized communications, our customers can significantly increase their reach and success in engaging and motivating their populations to make positive behavior changes.”

Awards and Recognitions

HealthMedia was selected for the second year in a row to appear on the prestigious Inc. 5000, the list that identifies the nation’s fastest-growing private companies. “The Inc. 5000 gives an unrivalled portrait of young, underreported companies across all industries doing fascinating things with cutting-edge business models, as well as older companies that are still showing impressive growth,” said Inc. 5000 Project Manager Jim Melloan.

HealthMedia’s The Appointment, a brief yet entertaining film exploring the doctor-patient relationship, received a Certificate for Creative Excellence, the highest award in its category, from the International Film and Video Festival. The Appointment can be viewed at http://www.healthmedia.com/flash/video_library/videolibrary.html.

The company also announced that Lori Holly is now its third employee to earn the highly regarded Critical Outcomes Reporting Analysis (CORA) certification through the Disease Management Purchasing Consortium (DMPC). Al Lewis, president of DMPC, initiated the outcomes certifications because of the generally poor quality of disease management and wellness reporting to employers from health plans and vendors. Only about 50 percent of those who take the test receive their certification.
