LANCASTER – Peter Conn, chairman of the Santa Barbara Chapter of Health Care for All – California, will speak June 12 about state legislation that would provide state health insurance to all Californians.

Conn will speak at 11 a.m. June 12 at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, 44845 Cedar Ave.

Health Care for All – California is a nonprofit organization that supports providing universal health care through publicly financed “single-payer” insurance.

Senate Bill 840, authored by Sen. Sheila Kuehl, D-Los Angeles, would provide medical, dental, vision, hospitalization and prescription drug benefits and guarantee residents’ right to pick their physicians, supporters said.

Kuehl’s staff said the California Health Insurance Reliability Act would streamline reimbursement, save $25 billion in its first year and reduce costs for most individuals, families and businesses while providing better coverage. The new insurance would be financed by premiums based on income and payroll.

Child care is provided by fellowship staff. For more information, call Antelope Valley Unitarian Universalist Fellowship at (661) 944- 9320, e-mail avuuf(at)aol.com or check avuuf.org.
