Drama Sparks Warning
A HOUSE which became a crime scene after two teenage girls ended up in hospital with drug overdoses had only just become occupied by new residents.
Police sealed off the house in Richard Street, Blyth, for a number of hours yesterday while they carried out an investigation into the incident.
Three local men, one 18 and two 23, were arrested in connection with supplying drugs.
The two girls were due to be released from hospital today after recovering.
A neighbour, who did not wish to be named, said: "A boy and a girl lived there who I think were teenagers. The first day they moved in they had their window put out."
Police today revealed the three men who were arrested have all been released on bail pending further inquiries. They issued fresh warnings about the potentially fatal risks involved in taking illegal drugs. The girls, 14 and 17, were taken to Wansbeck General Hospital in Ashington, on Tuesday night with drug overdoses.
They had earlier been among a number of people in the house and are believed to have taken a mixture of illegal and prescription drugs, together with alcohol.
At first their condition was said to be serious. Further tests are being carried out to establish exactly what they took.
