Emergency Card to Ensure Nobody Will Miss Key Care
An new emergency card scheme aims to ensure nobody is put at risk if a carer is involved in an accident.
The county council's adult social services department is launching the scheme on Tuesday.
The card will contain all of the details of the person for whom the worker is currently caring.
If the carer is involved in an accident, the emergency services will look for the card and contact the council.
Adult social services staff will then arrange for support for the cared-for person, using the information given to ensure they are not put at risk.
Carers will also be asked to give details of any people they would like to be contacted in case of an emergency.
Derbyshire County Council cabinet member for adult social services councillor Dave Allen said: "This will give carers peace of mind when they go out and about that if something happens, the person who relies on them for care will be looked after."
