Advice on Accessing Health Services

The ambulance service is raising awareness of how Plymouth residents and visitors can access health services.

South Western Ambulance Service (SWAST) states that across the region the population can quadruple during the summer, and it is vital people are aware how to contact appropriate health services.

For life-threatening or potentially life-threatening conditions, especially those where time is critical such as heart problems, dial 999.

Patients can also call the 24-hour health advice line NHS Direct on 08454647, visit the nearest accident and emergency depart- ment of a local hospital, or alternatively head to a minor injuries unit (MIU).

Public information leaflets about accessing healthcare services are available to download from or by calling 01392 261586.
