Father in Court on Child’s Injuries
A FATHER accused of seriously injuring his three-week-old son has made his first appearance at Liverpool crown court.
Dean Hodkinson, 20, is alleged to have caused his new-born son grievous bodily harm.
The baby was taken to Arrowe Park hospital by his parents on August 9 with serious injuries.
He was taken to intensive care, before being transferred to the Royal Manchester children’s hospital.
The court heard the child’s future health is still uncertain.
Hodkinson, who lives in the Wallasey area, spoke only to confirm his name.
Wearing a shirt and dark jacket, he entered no pleas.
He was bailed to appear back before the court on November 14 when he will be expected to enter a plea.
Judge Charles James fixed a trial date for January 26, with an estimate of up to eight weeks.
