Vital: What’s the Alternative?

By Dee Atkinson

WITH the increasing worries about the possible side-effects of HRT, more and more women have been coming into the clinic complaining of problems while going through the menopause.

Herbal medicine can relieve many of the problems, including vaginal dryness.

Herbs such as red clover, sage and black cohosh have phyto oestrogen-like actions, and will help to ease symptoms.

I often prescribe a vitamin E capsule to be used as a vaginal pessary twice a week.

This combines well with wild yam cream, that also contains a high percentage of calendula oil.

When you are going through the menopause, it is a good time to have a complete health check.
