Southeast Louisiana Veterans Clinics Closed

September 8, 2008

By Anonymous

All Southeast Louisiana Veterans Health Care System clinics – except the Baton Rouge Clinic – are closed because of Hurricane Gustav.

All New Orleans administrative and clinical sites and the Houma clinic, Slidell clinic, St. John clinic, Hammond clinic and Mandeville dental clinic are closed.

The earliest date these clinics are expected to reopen is Monday.

The Baton Rouge clinic is open for urgent care medical needs and will resume most functions today. The Baton Rouge clinic will see patients for scheduled appointments, provide basic primary care, mental health services, pharmacy services and continue to see urgent care walk-in patients.

Veteran patients should call 911 and immediately go to the nearest emergency room in case of emergency. Patients can access information through a toll-free patient information number, (800) 507-4571, from 7 a.m.-7 p.m., or at www.neworleans.va.gov/.

All VA employees are required to immediately check in with their status, location and contact information by calling (866) 233-0152. Operators are available 24 hours a day to speak with employees.
