Harris Appoints New Vice President of Military Healthcare Solutions

Communications and information technology company Harris Corporation has appointed Barclay Butler as the new vice president of military healthcare for its healthcare solutions initiative.

In this position, Mr Butler will lead the company's initiatives focused on solving the IT healthcare challenges faced by military organizations, including research, technical product development, system delivery and service, and the application of new technologies.

Mr Butler has expertise as a senior information management and technology professional in the military healthcare business community. Prior to joining Harris, he was senior vice president at Apptis. He also was vice president-general manager at IMC in Fairfax, Virginia, and senior program director at Oracle.

Mr Butler retired from the US Army in 2003. As chief information officer for the US Army medical department, he led IT support for the Department of Defense's integrated delivery system, comprised of eight academic medical centers and 30 hospitals.

Jim Traficant, vice president of Harris healthcare solutions, said: "Dr Butler is a recognized leader in military healthcare information technology. His expertise further supports the Harris commitment and capability to transform care delivery through enterprise intelligence at the point of care for our nation's active-duty and retired military personnel."
