MIAMI, Sept. 12 /PRNewswire/ — Effective immediately, Pacer Health Corporation has discontinued operations at its three Louisiana medical facilities: South Cameron Memorial Hospital (Cameron, LA), South Cameron Rural Health Clinic and Calcasieu Oaks Psychiatric Hospital (Lake Charles, LA), due to the approaching Hurricane Ike. Responding to mandatory evacuations issued by emergency management personnel in the Cameron parish area, South Cameron Memorial Hospital and South Cameron Rural Health Clinic were forced to cease operations and relocate patients and staff on Friday. While the Lake Charles area was not issued a mandatory evacuation, Pacer Health Corporation chose to evacuate Calcasieu Oaks Psychiatric Hospital to ensure the safety of its patients and staff.
All facilities will cease function until post-storm advisements are issued by local and state officials and facility managers are able to return to the area to assess for damages, if any. Regular updates including patient and staff relocation and emergency contact numbers can be found on the respective sites, www.caloakshospital.comand www.scmhospital.comor by visiting Pacer Health Corporation at www.pacerhealth.com. Pacer Health Corporation will re-open both facilities once state officials advise it is safe to do so.
