Stop Privatisation of the NHS at All Costs
ALLYSON Pollock’s insightful article on out-of-hours care in Scotland is something that none of us can afford to ignore (September 12). Successive, impotent, governments have allowed the NHS to wilt on the vine. Out-ofhours care is one symptom of this systemic disease.
The private sector has a major foothold south of the border. We must stop this from happening in Scotland at all costs.
General practitioners need time off, but at the same time we want the best for our patients. In the old-fashioned GP co-ops we knew that our patients were being seen by a competent colleague.
The Tayside proposal is, quite frankly, unbelievable. I can only hope common sense and people power prevails.
