Mubarak Inaugurates Biggest Specialized Hospital

President Hosni Mubarak inaugurated on Monday 15/9/2008 El- Zaytoun Specialized Hospital in Cairo’s El-Amiriya district which was built at the cost of LE 150 million to serve four million citizens. The seven-storey hospital which occupies 2,900 square meters accommodates 203 beds and houses various wards. It will serve the residents of the districts of Kobri El-Qubba, El-Zaytoun, El- Amiriya, El-Matariya and El-Kablat area. Minister of Health Hatem El- Gabali gave a presentation before the President at the hospital’s main hall in its third floor to explain the manifold parts of the country’s health care program. Under this program, a health map of Egypt was drawn to set up a new strategic database to help in funding new health projects and locating areas deprived of health services across the country, the Minister said. Gabali said that the main achievement of the 2007-2008 health investment plan was finishing the building of 28 hospitals at total costs of LE 174 million and providing state-run hospitals with modern equipment worth LE 229 million. He said that LE 1.7 billion have been spent on 924 new health-related projects of which 264 have already been completed. The Minister also said that LE 1.2 billion have been allocated to purchase 1,213 new ambulances, 25 blood transport and 19 vaccine and serum transport vehicles and six ambulance boats and to establish 195 medical units and first aid units on the motorways in addition to fully-equipped 181 mobile clinics and medical convoys.
