Yoga Will Help Control Weight
A course which promises to help people control their weight by using the principles of an Indian system of alternative medicine is being launched by Exeter College.
The Ayurveda course also incorporates yoga, yogic breathing, meditation and techniques to develop the mind and emotions.
It is taught by Peter Brown, a lecturer at Exeter College and a meditation and Ayurveda teacher.
He said: "According to Ayurveda, everyone has their own unique body type. Any diet, exercise pattern and daily routine should always be based on your body type. There is no one diet that is best for everyone – it needs to be tailored to suit each person.
"The purpose of Ayurveda is to achieve balance within your own body type. When balance is gained you will naturally experience optimum health, energy, vitality and wellbeing. As an unforced side benefit, you will also achieve your ideal weight."
Course participants will learn how to identify their own body type; choose food according to their body type; improve digestion and assimilation; practise simple meditation, yoga exercises and yogic breathing to revitalise the body; remove toxins and improve metabolism.
