Prominent PRO Medical Researcher and Bio-IT World Editor-in-Chief to Keynote PHT’s 6th Annual ePRO Conference and User Group Meeting

The User Group Meeting and Conference will feature keynote speakers Ethan Basch, MD, MSc. and Bio-IT World editor-in-chief Kevin Davies, PhD.
Dr. Ethan Basch is a medical oncologist at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center who conducts research on applications of PROs in cancer clinical trials and routine care. This work focuses on methods to improve data quality and safety through the development of standards for adverse symptom event monitoring and reporting. This research is conducted in collaboration with stakeholders at the National Cancer Institute and FDA, where he serves as a guest member of the Study Endpoints and Labeling Design team (SEALD). Current projects include a national trial of patient-reported adverse symptoms in the NCI cooperative group setting, and a large randomized study of patient self-reporting. In his practice, Dr. Basch sees patients with prostate cancer. Dr. Basch is a graduate of Harvard Medical School and Harvard School of Public Health. For PHT’s User Group Meeting and Conference, Dr. Basch will provide a keynote presentation on the use of PROs for adverse symptom monitoring in oncology.
Dr. Kevin Davies is the founding editor of Bio-IT World magazine and author of “Cracking the Genome: Inside the Race to Unlock Human DNA.” Dr. Davies is a molecular geneticist by training and continues scientific publishing and thought-leadership in the field. Before working at Bio-IT World, he was the editor-in-chief of Cell Press and the founder of Nature Genetics. Dr. Davies has written for numerous magazines and books and founded multiple scientific publications. Dr. Davies is a graduate of Oxford University and the University of London, and conducted research at the Whitehead Institute and Harvard Medical School. Dr. Davies will discuss emerging trends in personal genomic research and their impact on the pharmaceutical industry in his keynote presentation at PHT’s User Group Meeting and Conference.
