Share Of Lancaster Memorial Walk

By Susan Jurgelski

It's a walk to remember.

Share of Lancaster, a pregnancy- and infant-loss support group, will hold its sixth annual Walk to Remember, Sunday, at the Greenfield Corporate Center, Lancaster.

According to Share, in the past year, local parents suffered the loss of more than 350 babies through miscarriage, pregnancy complications, prematurity, stillbirth or SIDS. Many other early gestational deaths were unreported.

Registration will begin at 1 p.m., and the walk will start at 2 p.m., at the center. A candle-lighting ceremony will be held during the event. There will also be crafts for children, a memory book for parents and a dedication of the Beloved Babies Bench.

All proceeds from the walk will benefit Share of Lancaster support services, including educational programs for health-care professionals.

Kevin and Rachel Moore, who lost their daughter, Caelie Marie, at 20 weeks, will speak.

Since Caelie's death in 1997, the Moores have worked to improve the treatment of grieving families by providing educational programs for physicians, nurses, clergy and other caregivers.

They also reignited the local parent support group that is now run by Share of Lancaster.

The Moores have three children, including twins.
