We’re Best in an Emergency

September 26, 2008

THE NHS in the North East is rated as best performing for urgent and emergency care services.

As part of a major review, Newcastle and North Tyneside Primary Care Trusts (PCT) and Northumberland Care Trust were rated as very good.

This performance rating is part of a major review covering all urgent and emergency NHS services published by the Healthcare Commission.

It is the first time the Commission has reviewed how the NHS system as a whole works together.

The Healthcare Commission found people living in Newcastle, North Tyneside and Northumberland are more likely to get the care they need promptly and have their needs met effectively compared to other places in the country.
