“A New Heart and a New Spirit – The Joy of Caring” conference will be held from 8:30 a.m. to approximately 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 27, at Clarke College.

The event will address both the complexities of parish nursing and the needs of the caregivers who provide it. The seminar is being sponsored by Clarke College and Mercy Medical Center-Dubuque with support from the Archdiocese of Dubuque, although it is open to people of all faiths. It is especially designed for parish nurses, social workers, pastors and associates, chaplains, nurses and community members.

Participants will learn, among other things, how to approach end- of-life issues with parishioners and their families, how to collaborate with multiple disciplines in offering care to parish members and how to put more humor into their lives.

Keynote speaker Sister Mary Ann Zollman, of the Dubuque Sisters of the Blessed Virgin Mary, will give the keynote address on “Living a Sabbath Spirit 24/7.”

Cost is $45, and registration will be accepted at the door.
