Polio Immunization Campaign Continues in Southern Sudan

The campaign to immunize against polio is still going on in rural areas of Central and Eastern Equatoria States. [Southern Sudan].
The delay is attributed to rain fall which has denied accessibility to the areas during the rainy season.
The director of community based health care, and immunization in the GoSS Ministry of Health in Juba, Dr Anthony Lako, said that the three-day vaccination exercise, which was supposed to end last Saturday, could not be completed due to rains.
The campaign to vaccinate children under five years is organized by GoSS Ministry of Health, supported by the WHO and UNICEF.
French based non-governmental organization; Solidarity said that it is now introducing several measures to increase the provision of safe drinking water in Upper Nile State.
According to Ms Carole Dehu [name as published] field Coordinator and Acting Head of Mission for Solidarity, the NGO which is for Emergency and Humanitarian Aid is currently working in Upper Nile in the areas of water and sanitation.
She added that at the moment, safe drinking water is being provided in several communities including Tunja area, in Penykang County.
