WINS-AM’s (1010) Stan Brooks was recently inducted into the New York Press Club Hall of Fame.

“Being inducted with Gabe Pressman [of News 4 NY], who is a legend, and Dominic Carter [NY 1] is an honor,” said Brooks. “To be recognized by the people who cover New York City and who I have worked with for a long time, it doesn’t get much better than that.”

Brooks has worked at WINS for 46 years.

“It’s been a great place to work,” he said. “I was news director when we made the move [April 19, 1965] from rock-and-roll to an all- news station. It has been an exciting adventure. It has been invigorating to work with young people; they keep me on my toes.”

Are there any thoughts of retirement for Brooks, who is now 81?

“No way, I don’t want to be sitting around with old geezers comparing aches and pains.”

We’re not even done with Halloween, and Christmas is already on the scene at WCBS-FM (101.1).

The greatest-hits station this week kicked off a promotion campaign titled “Santa Song of the Day.”

Every weekday morning at 7:20 a.m., on-air personality Dan Taylor will let listeners know the time Santa will arrive that day. When listeners hear the song “Santa Claus Is Coming to Town” (played in its entirety between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m.), they can call the station (800-367-1101) for a chance to win $1,000.

“We wanted to make sure the holidays will be happy this year for our listeners — we think a little extra cash will go a long way,” said Brian Thomas, WCBS program director.

Bergenfield’s Wagon Wheel restaurant has a tradition of great music and great food. Nikki Armstrong hopes to continue that tradition.

The WFDU-FM (89.1) on-air personality will host “The Wagon Wheel Jam” 9 p.m. Oct. 12.

“I love the restaurant with its eclectic antique decor, down- home atmosphere and the built-in sense of community between musicians, patrons and staff,” said the New Milford resident.

Armstrong, who hosts “Blues in the Grooves” 1 to 3:45 p.m. Wednesdays on WFDU, says the evening should have something for everyone.

“We’ll be covering many genres — blues, R&B, rock, funk, jazz and maybe even some pop!”

There is no cover charge for the event. The restaurant is at 16 S. Front St. Information: 201-384-9464.
