City Art Film Buff, 46, Dies of Cancer

TRIBUTES have been paid to Tony Whitehead, a film programmer at Cardiff’s Chapter Arts Centre, who has died at the age of 46 after a battle with cancer.

Mr Whitehead joined Chapter in 1997. He will be remembered for his expertise on UK film and TV humour.

Earlier this year he had a book on film director Mike Leigh – long associated with Chapter – published.

Mr Whitehead leaves his wife Sara, parents Kath and Graham and his brother Duncan.

His funeral will take place on October 10 at Wenallt Chapel in Thorn hill, at 1.45pm. Donations can be sent in lieu to Cancer Care Cymru or Marie Curie Holme Tower c/o Green Willow Funerals, 33 St Isan Road, Heath, Cardiff, CF14 4LU.
