Following is a weekly listing of upcoming events of area faith groups held around Niagara County.
>TodayBARBECUE DINNER: Barbecued chicken and ribs, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. $7.50 to $8.50. St. James Lutheran Church, 2437 Niagara Road, Bergholz. A silent auction will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the family of Kelly Miller, who was killed in a motorcycle accident in Niagara Falls in July.
GUEST SPEAKER: Evangelist Norm Sharbaugh, author of "Ammunition for Piercing the Armor of the Philosophy of Evolution," 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. First Baptist Church, 530 Meadow Drive, North Tonawanda. He will also hold services at 7 p.m. Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. For information, call 694-5250.
BLESSING OF THE PETS: For the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi, the Revs. Bob Hughson and Jim Fugle will bless pets in front of Prince of Peace Church, 1 p.m. St. Vincent de Paul Parish, 105 Military Road, Niagara Falls.
ROAST BEEF DINNER: Homestyle dinner will be available to eat in or take out, 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. $7.50 for adults, $3.50 for children 5 to 12 and free for children under 5. Cambria United Church of Christ, 4045 Lower Mountain Road, Cambria.
RUMMAGE SALE: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., St. John Lutheran Church, 6950 Ward Road, Wheatfield. Sale will continue from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday.
FISH FRY: Battered or baked haddock, deep fried shrimp or beef on weck. 4 to 7 p.m. St. John de LaSalle Catholic Church, 8477 Buffalo Ave. Call 283-7916 for take out.
WOMEN'S CONFERENCE: Vanessa Scout Outreach Ministries will present "Woman to Woman -- Girl Talk Conference 2008," plus speakers, play, soloist and vendors. 6 p.m. Free. Unitarian Church, 639 Main St., Niagara Falls. Conference will continue at 8:30 a.m. Saturday.
CHOWDER SALE: Plus baked goods, candles, homemade pet treats and handmade crafts, noon to 4 p.m., St. Paul's United Church of Christ, 3921 Mapleton Road, Wheatfield. Call 731-4756 for more information.
